Thing #4 - Register your Blog with Tracker

Some of these Things are a little less inspiring than others. Ok, I've registered my blog on the tracker. Or at least I think I have. This one was deceptively simple. Seems like there was supposed to be more to it. Did I miss something?

Oh, yes, begin my learning 2.0 journey. I'll get back to you on that one. I sometimes wonder if I'm too misanthropic for 2.0. For instance, I recently created a Second Life account. I enjoyed learning how to get around in Second Life and whatnot, but I'm terrified of all the other people around me. What if the talk to me, or something? Social networking is not really my thing. I'd rather sit in the corner and glower.

What is Second Life?
Best of luck to you with 2.0. I have struggled to figure out downloading my blog to the 23T template and after much growsing finally succeeded. I look forward to reading more of your further adventures in 2.0.

From http://secondlife.com/whatis/:

Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its Residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by a total of 9,821,487 Residents from around the globe.

* From the moment you enter the World you'll discover a vast digital continent, teeming with people, entertainment, experiences and opportunity. Once you've explored a bit, perhaps you'll find a perfect parcel of land to build your house or business.

* You'll also be surrounded by the Creations of your fellow Residents. Because Residents retain the rights to their digital creations, they can buy, sell and trade with other Residents.

* The Marketplace currently supports millions of US dollars in monthly transactions. This commerce is handled with the in-world unit-of-trade, the Linden dollar, which can be converted to US dollars at several thriving online Linden Dollar exchanges.

Welcome to Second Life. We look forward to seeing you in-world.

I sort of like learning to move around in Second Life. Mostly I walk into walls, or just spin around. It's kind of embarrassing. I like the flying part, but I'm bad at landing, and one time I think I may have drowned myself by landing in the water. Can you die in Second Life? Then what? Third life, where you're reborn as a beetle?
I get kind of panicky, too, when people in Second Life try to give me things. I suppose it's all a part of interacting, but it's just so weird to have mystery objects handed to me by strangers. Although, now that I think about it, that happens to me all the time on Pacific Ave. in my First Life.
